Beaver Basketball: 'It's a huge confidence boost'

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Since beating the Ducks at Matt Knight Arena, the Beavers gained lots of confidence that they can go on the road and pick up a "W", but head coach Craig Robinson said the team can't do it with offense alone.

"I think our guys really understand that," said Robinson. "They have really focused on their defensive principles and being defenders. That's the main thing. The other thing is that, they're just playing more confidently."

"It's a huge confidence boost," said Ahmad Starks about beating the Ducks. "Also we moved up the rankings. Just knowing we can go on the road and win. We see two more chances to win on the road now. We just have to capitalize on it."

"No one has won at Colorado yet, so hopefully we're the first ones to give them an "L" on their home court," said Joe Burton.

The altitude in Boulder is nothing new for Oregon State. The Beavers lost by 26-points in Colorado a year ago. In that game, Starks said he started to feel dizzy and had to put ice packs on his head. This time around, the Beavers have used extra conditioning in practice to help prepare for the altitude.
