13 high schools compete at South Coast Skills Day at Coquille High School

COQUILLE, Ore. -- Students from the south coast will get a chance to test their math and music skills against other each other in Coquille.

This year Coquille High School is hosting the 42nd Annual High School South Coast Skills Day.

Students from 13 high schools compete in the competition.

Winners receive three credit tuition waivers to Southwestern Oregon Community College.

"Many students come to school because they are really passionate about the arts or about music or about their welding or something else, and this is an opportunity for those student to really see and show off what they can do," said Coquille High school Principal Jeff Philley.

The friendly competition kicks off this Thursday at 10 a.m.
