18-year-old accused of murder, rape in crime spree

ALBANY, Ore. - An 18-year-old faces accusations that he murdered a woman in her home and raped another at gunpoint after entering her apartment through a 2nd-floor balcony in a deadly crime spree, police said.

Lucius Gentry Wilson III stands accused of murdering 36-year-old Angela Esther Stephenson.

Stephenson was found dead at 2 a.m. May 13 after her 8-year-old son reported his mother was bleeding.

Wilson is also accused of raping a woman at gunpoint May 7 after entering her second floor apartment through a balcony window.

After the sexual assault, police say Wilson forced the victim at gunpoint to drive to a bank and withdraw money from her account.

Wilson was originally booked June 2 on theft and burglary charges. He has been held since on $130,000 bail, according to jail records.

Police said Thursday that Wilson also faces charges related to a 3:50 a.m. armed robbery April 17 at a convenience store, as well as 3 residential burglaries in Albany and 1 in Jefferson.

They are still investigating whether a handful of unsolved burglaries can be linked to the man.

Police said Wilson moved to the area about a year ago.

He was arraigned Thursday at the Linn County Courthouse.

His next court appearance is July 30.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
