4-H, FFA members prep for auction at Coos County Fair
MYRTLE POINT, Ore. -- At the Coos County Fairgrounds Thursday, 4-H and FFA members were busy getting their animals ready for the big show.
11-year-old Lyvia Erenfeld has been in 4-H for two years and this is her first year auctioning at the Coos County Fair.
She said she likes to wash her pig and add some sparkle to it before the show.
"I hope to get a lot of money,” she said, “of course, I hope to get someone to bid on my pig at least.”
"That money will go to towards their animals the next year,” said Lyvia’s stepdad, John Hawkins. “I know, for Lyvie, she wants to move up to cows, so hopefully she can get a good price on her hog and use that money for her animals. What's left over goes into her college fund."
The Coos County Fair continues through Saturday night in Myrtle Point.
