COOS BAY, Ore. -- The City of Coos Bay will be installing a bridge crossing along 6th Avenue approximately 300 feet south of F Street.

Construction is anticipated to span from October 9, 2017 to February 15, 2018 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For safety reasons, traffic along 6th Avenue will be affected for both lightweight and heavy-hauling vehicles. Lightweight vehicles and buses will have only one lane of traffic southbound for the duration of the project. The northbound traffic will be detoured with the route in the image.

Heavy-hauling vehicles will not be allowed to utilize the lightweight vehicle detour route. All heavy-hauling vehicles will be routed along either East Bay Road or Ross Inlet/Sumner Road. The approved detour route will be posted on the Trip Check and ODOT Motor Carrier websites.

There will be a complete closure of the project site for two days between October 18 and 27. During this complete road closure, all lightweight traffic will be detoured along F Street, 9th Avenue, and H Street.

City Council must formally approve all road closures, officials said, so this will be presented at the October 10 Council Work Session (5:30 p.m. at the fire station at 450 Elrod Avenue), and at the October 17 Council Meeting (7 p.m. at City Hall, 500 Central Avenue).

Public comments will be received at both meetings.
