COOS BAY, Ore. -- Coos Bay Public Library will be holding a free Oregon author event with award-winning author and accomplished musician Willy Vlautin of Scappoose.

The event is Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m. in the Myrtlewood Room at Coos Bay Public Library. It's fee and open to all members of the public.

Organizers say Vlautin will probably read from his latest book, The Free, and its predecessor, Lean on Pete, which is soon to be a major motion picture starring Steve Buscemi and Chloe Sevigny.

In the words of Oregon’s own Ursula K. LeGuin, regarding Willy’s latest novel, The Free: “Willy Vlautin is one of the bravest novelists writing. It takes real courage to write a novel about ordinary good people. (He) tells us who really lives now in our America, our city in ruins.”
