Back to school: The Ark Project lends a hand
COOS BAY, Ore. - Students of all income levels are receiving a helping hand from The Ark Project, an outreach program for kids and families who need some help.
The Ark Project is working to make sure all kids are ready to go back to school in the fall.
They are holding a back-to-school event next week, open to students across Coos County to receive free backpacks, school supplies and haircut vouchers.
Organizers predict that over 260 bags will be given away to kids this year.
“Anyone living in a trailer, couch surfing, doubling up so two bedrooms with 6 plus people living in it, inadequate housing, child or youth not living with their parent or legal guardian are the ones that we're going to focus on for this event," said Ark Project Manager Melinda Torres.
The back-to-school event is on Tuesday, August 15, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Harding Learning Center.
