Bikers for Christ make poker run against childhood cancer
COOS BAY, Ore. - The Coos County Bikers for Christ raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with a poker run this weekend.
The annual event kicked off and ended at the Coos Bay Harley Davidson.
Leather-clad men and women mounted their motorcycles and rode to five Coos County towns.
At each stop they drew a playing card for a chance to win prizes.
But while the bikers tested their luck, they brought good fortune to children in need.
"We are here to give the boot to childhood cancer," said Lee Taft. "Turnout is really good. We had I think about 120, 123 people on the poker run. You know, anything we can do to help a kid live, we're going to do it."
The event ended with a celebration and barbeque.
There was live music from a local band, a raffle for donated bikes, and plenty of food.
