COOS BAY, Ore. -- Kindergarteners at Blossom Gulch Elementary recently got to see their new classroom and meet their new teacher.

Eugene native April Collins attended Sheldon High School and graduated from Pacific University.

While she enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher in Lane County, Collins says she’s excited to make Coos Bay her home.

"I would like to bring my flare for the flamboyant and unique,” the new teacher said. “We're going to do a lot of art in my class. I like to sing and dance with my kids; there's the moose song, Baby Bumblebee, we get kinda silly in here. That's what I'm really looking forward to."

Monday was the first day of class for kindergartners.
