TROUTDALE, Ore. -- Divers found the body of a small child in the Sandy River on Thursday and authorities said all signs point to it belonging to last month's drowning victim.
The body has not been positively identified it as 7-year-old Asekur Rahman, who went under water in the Sandy River at Glenn Otto Park on June 30.
"But everything points in that direction," said Troutdale police Sgt. Carey Kaer.
The identity will be confirmed by a medical examiner at the scene.
The body was discovered by Clackamas County sheriff's divers after they had returned to the area of the boy's drowning to conduct training while resuming the search.
The 7-year-old disappeared in the water while playing with his 9-year-old brother. Neither of the boys was wearing a life jacket.
Crews searched with kayaks, divers and from the air but were unable to find him.
