Brown signs bill requiring a week's notice of schedule changes
SALEM, Ore. —
Gov. Kate Brown has signed the Fair Workweek bill into law.
This is a first-in-the nation measure aimed at giving low-wage workers a break.
Businesses in the retail, hospitality, and food service industries with more than 500 employees worldwide will be required to give a week's notice of any schedule changes. And then in 2020, the notice will be bumped up to two weeks.
Supporters say it will give workers more control over their lives.
