CASA of Coos County seeks volunteers for abused & neglected children
COOS BAY, Ore. -- A non-profit organization is looking for volunteers to help neglected and abused children.
There are currently over 280 foster care children in Coos County.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates program, better known as CASA, is looking for people interested in being a voice for these children.
Volunteers go through 30 hours of training for various responsibilities.
"That includes going to court, writing court reports, going to family meetings, visiting doctors, educational meetings … whatever is required to make sure the best interest of the children are being met," explains CASA of Coos County director Greg Dalton.
You can pick up an application at the CASA of Coos County office on LaClair in Coos Bay.
The next training begins on April 13.
