Charleston Seafood Festival getting a jump on the weekend
The 28th annual Charleston Seafood, Beer and Wine festival started today, and those in attendance are ready for a party.
Dozens of vendors are on hand to celebrate the harvest from the sea.
Plenty of entertainment and activities for the kids will be available, and this year, organizers added a half-day of celebration, kicking things off on Friday afternoon.
“We found there are people that have to work on Saturday and Sunday and may have Friday off,” said Rusty Shield of the Charleston Fire Department. “The port is willing to help let us test the water and see what the results are and talk about possibly going to a full three days.”
The festival is on through Sunday at the Charleston Marina, and all proceeds will go to the Charleston Volunteer Fire Association.
