COOS Bay, Ore. -- Some local college students were in the Valentine's Day spirit Wednesday morning.

The Trio Student Support Services Club held a fundraiser at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

The group made candygrams to help send students to North Carolina to work with Habitat for Humanity.

The Trio program promotes and helps students transferring to four-year universities, providing them with resources to succeed along the way.

"I joined Trio and started going to the office and they started working with me,” said Rose Garrett,” and it has turned me into a straight-A student. I've also gained leadership skills as president of this club this year."

There's more information about the program on the school's website.
