Coos Bay district looking at full-day kindergarten
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Coos Bay kindergarten students could soon be spending a full day at school.
The move could come beginning as early as this fall, according to the Coos Bay School Board.
A proposal for all day kindergarten is in the school board's budget for the next school year.
It's a decision the board says they are very excited about. "It's part of a long road to success for our students," said board chair James Martin. "But when we look at all of the ways we can be allocating funds, we really believe this is one that is going to have the greatest impact on the most amount of students."
The board says response, so far, has been overwhelmingly positive.
Kindergarten pre-registration will be on May 16 at Blossom Gulch and Madison.
The school board says they welcome parents with any questions they may have.
