Coos County celebrates MLK with birthday celebration in North Bend
NORTH BEND, Ore. -- The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration in Coos County was held in North Bend Monday.
The Human Rights Advocates of Coos County hosted the event at Pony Village.
It focused on human rights issues and celebrating King's legacy.
Children from local elementary schools contributed drawings to honor Dr. King once again at the event.
"To remind people that civil rights and human rights are really important everywhere in our community,” said Bittin Duggan with Human Rights Advocates of Coos County, “so there's a small group of people who'll continue to hold the flame of MLK and the importance to make a stand for what we believe in."
The children's drawings will be on display at Pony Village Mall through Thursday.
