Coos County Fair rides go through 'multi-layer inspections' daily
MYRTLE POINT, Ore. -- It's day three of the Coos County Fair in Myrtle Point and, nationally, ride inspections are in the spotlight.
In Ohio, a fatal accident on a thrill ride has sparked concern across the country over safety inspections.
Rides at the Coos County Fair are provided by Butler Amusements.
The company's manager says they put their rides through multi-layer security checks to be sure they're safe.
This includes a daily inspection where ride operators check for things like functioning seatbelts and pins to make sure everything is in place.
"We also inspect during our tear-down, when dismantling, and during our setup,” said Butler Amusements manager Jim Hall. “It gives us an extra layer of looking to see if there's anything wearing on anything; that's pretty much what we do."
Butler Amusements has worked with the Coos County Fair for several years.
