COOS BAY, Ore. -- A Coos County K-9 officer is fighting for his life.

K-9 Odin is battling an unknown bacterial infection.

He wasn't expected to survive but is now in stable condition, officials said.

Odin's handler has created a GoFundMe to help with Odin's medicals bills.

Odin has served Coos County for more than two years and we're told he has helped capture 55 criminals.

"He's the sheriff's office's dog, but he's my dog too, and I mean, I love him and we want to get him fixed,” said Sgt. Adam Slater with Coos County Sheriff’s Office. “We want to get him back to duty. We want to get him back to work. But at the end of the day, if we can give back to him a little bit of what he's given to the folks of Coos County, I think it would be great."
