Curry County animal control supervisor dies
CURRY COUNTY, Ore. -- The animal control supervisor for Curry County has passed away, according to the board of commissioners.
In a statement sent out Wednesday morning from David Brock Smith, the chair of the board, he says Catherine Powers died early Wednesday morning.
Smith says Catherine suffered a heart attack during a Jazzercise class Tuesday evening.
Catherine was instrumental in making Pennies for Pooches a success as a no-kill animal shelter, according to Smith.
He says Catherine often saved animals from other counties, and even out of state.
"Catherine's vision and compassion for these animals and people of our community is unsurpassed by anyone. Her leaving us is a great loss to our community and County," Smith said in the statement.
