Curry County government not looking good
GOLD BEACH, Ore. -- Before the Curry County Commissioners left for holiday break, Chair David Itzen delivered the State of the County Address on Dec. 19.
He says county government is not looking good.
In the next fiscal year, Curry County will receive $3 million less of the General Fund.
"If additional sources of revenue are not established within the next six months, public safety will be completely compromised, and the county will be dysfunctional," said Itzen.
In addition, county government is operating with a skeleton work force.
24 employees resigned just this year.
10 years ago the Sheriff's Office had 16 road deputies. Now there are only five.
