Dan Lewis Day: Seattle honors KOMO anchor on final day

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle Mayor Ed Murray declared May 21 as Dan Lewis Day in honor of the longtime KOMO 4 anchor, who retires after 27 years at the conclusion of Wednesday's 11 p.m. broadcast.

Friends and colleagues honored Lewis on Twitter with #ThankYouDan, sending messages of congratulations and thanks on a career that spanned 4 decades.

Lewis shared the anchor desk for decades with the late Kathi Goertzen, who died in August 2012 after a long battle with brain cancer.

In honor of his friend and colleague, Lewis has offered signed prints of his photographs of Seattle for sale. The proceeds benefit the Kathi Goertzen Foundation.

Former viewers who are not in Seattle can watch #LiveOnKOMO streaming online. Lewis anchors the 4, 5, 6 and - his final broadcast - 11 p.m. shows.
