DeFazio discusses Water Resources Development Act in Coos Bay
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Congressman Peter DeFazio was in Coos Bay Friday for a round table discussion on the Water Resources Development Act.
The discussions were held at the Coos History Museum.
The Water Resources Development Act allocates funds for things like dredging and jetties across the country.
Friday morning's talks covered the need for congressional action to ensure that money collected into the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund is used for its intended purposes.
"I'm hopeful that we will free up all of those funds and spend them and make the investments we need to bring all of our harbors up to safety standards, navigation standards, and a state of good repair," DeFazio said.
The ports of Coos Bay, Grays Harbor and Port Orford were also involved in those discussions.
