Deputies: Man busted selling cemetery flower pots as scrap metal

WOODBURN, Ore. -- A man is behind bars for stealing gravestone flower pots and wire fencing from a Woodburn cemetery, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrested 42-year-old Randall Kuschnick after they say he stole brass vases and fence wire from the Belle Passi Cemetery. Kuschnick is accused of selling the metal to a scrap yard for cash.

Marion County officials issued a construction industry crime prevention alert, hoping to work with salvage yards in the Pacific Northwest to keep an eye on scrap metal theft.

Law enforcement in Lane County is looking into similar thefts at the West Lawn Memorial Park.
