Driver loses control on I-5 in Eugene, almost hits Oregon State Police patrol car
EUGENE, Ore. - A driver lost control in a work zone on Interstate 5 through Eugene on Monday, nearly striking an Oregon State Police patrol car before crashing into a concrete barrier.
Two Oregon State Police units at the scene provided first aid with the help of an off-duty ER nurse before Eugene Springfield Fire arrived on scene, police said.
The driver is expected to survive. The driver was cited for careless driving.
"Travelers are reminded to watch out for orange traffic cones, construction signs, crews and equipment on several projects still active," state police said on Facebook on Tuesday. "Slow down, pay extra attention and be prepared for flaggers and traffic pattern changes."
