Drug take-back event Saturday in Coquille another chance to get rid of expired pills
COQUILLE, Ore. -- If you missed out on the recent drug take-back day in Coos Bay, there's another chance for you to drop off unwanted prescription medication this weekend in Coquille.
The Coquille Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting a drug take-back Saturday, April 28, at the police station in Coquille.
You can take in unused, unwanted, and expired prescription drugs in pill form. The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps.
"2.4 percent of Americans misuse or abuse prescription drugs,” says Coquille Police Chief Scott Sanders. “That's more people than who actually use dangerous narcotics like cocaine, methamphetamine or heroin. So, the drug enforcement administration is doing this, doesn't cost anything, doesn't cost anything for the police department other than we just pick them up for them."
The drug take-back is Saturday at the police station on Central Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can call the police station for more information at (541) 396-2114.
