Farmers Market adds Sunday hours
COOS BAY, Ore. - The Farmers Market adds a second day per week starting this weekend.
Everything from fresh produce and baked goods to jewelry will now also be for sale at the Sunday Farmers Market.
Coordinators say coos county produce ripens around this time of year, which is later than other places.
The change is an effort to give locals a customer base when the need it most.
"It's an opportunity for local people who grow their own produce to come and sell their extra produce and for farmers to have another outlet to sell," said Sarah Crawford. "Any more opportunity to support local farmers is what we want to do."
The market runs Wednesdays and Sunday through October.
