Farmers Market Week: 'It's given me an outlet to sell my baked goods & share my passion'
COOS BAY, Ore. - It's National Farmers Market Week, and downtown Coos Bay participated in the celebration Wednesday.
In honor of the national event, organizers in Coos Bay held giveaways and activities to highlight the local farmer's market.
The market manager says the Coos Bay market does more than bring fresh produce to local shoppers.
"The farmers market brings a Dinner Inspiration Center and is a small business incubator as well as a community meeting place every week during our season," says market manager Ashley Audyck.
We talked with vendors and shoppers at the local event.
"It's been wonderful for me because it's given me an outlet to sell my baked goods and to share my passion with the local community," says market vendor Rachel Stys.
"We like the fact that we can find unique things that we can't find in stores and a lot of healthy foods that don't have preservatives, and the people here are so friendly," says Jocelyn Baker of Coos Bay.
The farmers market is open Wednesdays through October, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Central in downtown Coos Bay.
