First Flush: Liberty Theatre in North Bend invites public to celebrate new restrooms
NORTH BEND, Ore. -- It's not often an entire community is invited to watch someone flush a toilet, but it’s happening next week.
The construction of new restrooms at the Liberty Theatre in North Bend is nearly finished and they will meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The theater is inviting everyone to join them as they celebrate the "first flush" next week.
The blue Sani-can will be off the sidewalk and those with disabilities will no longer have to climb stairs to get to the restrooms.
The extra space features twice as many women's stalls and a family room with a nursing area.
Next week’s "first flush" event is open to the community and will include food and entertainment.
"Now the restrooms are on the lobby level, so it's just going to be a win-win situation for all our patrons,” says Theatre Restoration Committee member Josie Reid. “We've been working on it for so long, but it just started happening one year ago and we're really excited."
The “First Flush Celebration” is next Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre on Sherman Avenue in North Bend.
