COOS BAY, Ore. -- Homelessness in Coos County was the focus of a summit last month, and now organizers want to make sure the topic is still front and center.

“Moving Forward," the follow-up to the homeless summit, will take place next week.

Those who may have missed the summit or are interested in getting involved are invited to join the conversation.

Organizers say they do not want to lose the momentum from the summit.

"We want to keep making sure that we're moving forward,” says Devereux Center executive director Tara Johnson. “This was not a flash in the pan; it's an ongoing project. We're not going to see results necessarily the next day or the next week, but in order to see results in a year, in 10 years, we have to keep moving forward.”

The follow-up to the homeless summit is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 16.

The free event will be at the Coos History Museum from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Dinner will also be served at the event.
