Freezing fat cells in North Bend: 'Liposuction-type results without surgery'

NORTH BEND, Ore. - A new technique known as "cool sculpting" is available at the North Bend Medical Center.

Research at Harvard University showed fat cells could be killed by freezing them.

"As we exercise, we have areas that we just can't get rid of like love handles or a little pooch on the abdomen, and no matter what we do we just can't get rid of it," said Dr. Steven Tersigni. "So they found that fat cells die at a temperature that will not damage the skin. The fat cells die and they're absorbed by the body. It's liposuction-type results without surgery."

The best results come after multiple sessions.

Insurance providers don't cover the treatment.
