Fundraising for OSP memorial in final stretch
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Oregon State Police Fallen Trooper Memorial is in its final stretch for fundraising.
The memorial is for the fallen heroes of the state police.
Their sacrifices will be memorialized with a plaque on a basalt wall in Salem.
Right now, there are 33 troopers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Lt. Doug Ladd with the Roseburg area command of OSP, says seeing the rock in its raw state was a big event. "I actually was a little emotional about it, because there are people on that wall that I know," he said. "It was actually a pretty personal moment for me."
The cost of the project is about $220,000.
Ladd says they have raised about 80% of the funds needed to complete the construction.
The next fundraising event will be a Fallen Trooper 5&10K run, walk and crossfit event in June.
