Get Ready Coos Bay: 'There is always a chance something could happen'
COOS BAY, Ore. -- September is “preparedness month,” and with the recent news about hurricanes and earthquakes, there are plenty reminders that a natural disaster could hit at any time.
The 5th Annual Get Ready Coos Bay event took place over the weekend.
Coos Bay Fire Department, Northwest Natural and local emergency groups were on hand with preparedness information and tips.
A free lunch was available and the first 100 families received a free preparedness item.
"There is always a chance something could happen, and the best way for people to be able to survive an incident like this is to be prepared and, this event will help gather that information to be safer," said Coos Bay Fire Department’s Dan Crutchfield prior to the event.
