Hand grenade, artillery round found in war memorabilia

ALBANY, Ore. -- 88-year-old Cal Harpers was rummaging through his father's war souvenirs Monday morning when he found a WWI-era hand grenade and a 37mm artillery round.

The Linn County man said that even though he thought the items had been disabled, he wouldn't want to take any chances with the vintage explosives.

Harpers turned the grenade and shell over to state police, who found later that both explosives were not live.
