WINSTON, Ore. -- A Roseburg man was arrested after leading five law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase from Winston to Coos County early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around midnight.

Winston Police say it started when the driver of a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero failed to maintain their lane of travel.

Police say they tried to pull the driver over, but he refused to yield. The pursuit began on Hwy 42 near Brockway Road and reached speeds up to 90 mph, the report said.

The vehicle traveled into Coos County where Coos deputies laid out spike strips.

The vehicle hit the spikes and came to a halt a mile later after flattening three of the Montero's tires, police said. Coquille and Myrtle Point police departments took over the pursuit once it was spiked, the report said.

34-year-old Thomas Baraby was arrested and taken to the Douglas County jail.

He was charged with attempting to elude in a vehicle, reckless endangering and also had an outstanding parole warrant.
