Homeless remembrance memorial, vigil tonight from 5-7 p.m. at museum
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Thursday is a day of recognition and remembrance for the homeless in the Coos Bay-North Bend area.
The Eighth Annual Homeless Person's Memorial Day is held to honor those who have recovered from homelessness and those who passed away during the year.
There will be information about services available to the homeless.
Food, supplies and clothing donations will be accepted to help those in need.
"It's always done on December 21 because it's the longest night of the year, and it's to memorialize and bring attention to people out there who are unsheltered during this time of year," said Marcia Hart with United Way Southwestern Oregon.
The vigil and memorial will be held at the Coos History Museum Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.
