Homeless Summit: 'Everybody deserves to feel safe & be cared for'
NORTH BEND, Ore. -- Homelessness in Coos County was the focus of a summit Friday at the Mill Casino in North Bend.
The summit was organized by the “New Community Coalition" and several local organizations.
Along with the state of homelessness in Coos County, the summit looked at myths surrounding homelessness.
Organizers say it was meant to bring the community together to be part of the solution.
"Everybody deserves to feel safe and be cared for and that isn't happening in our society the way that things are set up now,” said New Community Coalition executive director Char Luther. "People need to be willing to make that happen."
Luther says about 200 people were on hand for the Friday summit.
