Hospital foundation awards $245K to Bay Area non-profits

COOS BAY, Ore. - The Bay Area Hospital Foundation distributed $245,000 to 27 non-profit organizations Wednesday at a luncheon.

Recipients were awarded grants from the hospital foundation to help improve the community.

"We were really excited to get $5,000," said Twila Veysey, CASA program director. "We provide advocacy for children who have been abused or neglected. We recruit and train volunteers who go to court for the children, and this money will go to training those volunteers."

During the first two months of each year, non-profits can apply for grants through the hospital foundation.
