SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Local liquor stores are seeing more customers with the new year just hours away.

Cork and Bottle, in Springfield, welcomed hundreds of customers for one of their busiest days of the year.

However, with New Year's Eve falling on a Sunday this year, one of their managers says it's not as busy of a holiday as it was last year. But customers still came in and purchased anything from beer, wine or liquor with plans to celebrate the new year.

"You know, some people have been telling us they're going to stay at home tonight watching the ball drop," said Otto Deurloo-Willard-Woods. "Some are going out and hitting the town, and I just want everyone to be safe."

Cork and Bottle is working special hours for New Year's Eve, and they will be open until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
