'I don't believe he realized that he was missing'

POWERS, Ore. -- A missing Powers man has been found.

57-year-old Mark Foss had not been seen since September when he left his home to work on some property in the Bridge area.

On Saturday, the Coos County Sheriff's Office received information from a hunter who said he saw Foss in China Flats, near Powers.

Sgt. Pat Downing says Foss left his home voluntarily and had been camping on his own since then.

"I don't believe he realized that he was missing. Some of the information that he told our office was that he had actually been back and forth to Powers during this time frame, and I think to the local market, and didn't realize that people were looking for him," Sgt. Downing said.

The hunter recognized Foss and his white Dodge Caravan from the news. Foss has returned safely to his family.
