Lions Club TV auction on KCBY rakes in over $14K
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Coos Bay Lions Club held their 54th Annual Television Auction Saturday and organizers say it was another successful year.
The auction is a yearly club fundraiser.
This year the Lions Club sold 95 items donated from local businesses and community members, such as an entire unit of lumber from South Port Lumber, a round of golf from Bandon Dunes and roundtrip plane tickets.
All proceeds from the fundraiser go back into the community.
"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it's to pay for our programs,” said Lion’s Club member Phil Marler. “We provide glasses and hearing aids for those in need."
"Besides this one we have the Pizza Day and then we do tournaments involving 8th grade boys and girls, but this is by far the largest one,” said Roger Craddock with the Lions Club. “It helps us meet the tremendous need of those who can't afford eye glasses or, for some people, it's not the eye glasses, it's actually just getting the eye exam."
The Lions Club, with the help of the community, raised over $14,000 over the weekend.
