Lots of smoke, no danger

COOS BAY, Ore.-- A large plume of smoke on the southwest side of Coos Bay city limits had some wondering if an out-of-season wildfire had ignited Wednesday afternoon.

Unlike many controlled burns people are familiar seeing, the smoke cloud was extremely large and the smoke was dark and black at times.

Local emergency responders and KCBY news recieved many calls from residents wondering if a plane had crashed or if something exploded in the area.

According to the Coos Forest Patrol, the smoke is the result of a large controlled burn, and the smoke looked worse than what was actually taking place.
