COOS BAY, Ore. -- Madison Elementary School in Coos Bay recently unveiled a mural of student drawings.
The Oregon Coast Children's Theater recently offered a mural project to local schools.
All of Madison Elementary's 400 students submitted drawings to be considered.
Last week, drawings from 24 children were revealed hanging in a hallway near the main entrance.
One mural, dubbed “The Dancing Sea," features animals of the ocean.
"There's already a very strong sense of community in the school but years later these kids will come back and say, 'I did that; I placed that,’” said Principal Janice Shock, “and I just think that this is a nice way for us to celebrate what those consistent efforts are, that they always are shining, and this is a bright spot as you enter our building."
The new mural is valued at $10,000, school officials said.
