COOS BAY, Ore. -- A young man is biking from the border of Canada to the border of Mexico for a good cause, and he stopped in Coos Bay this week.

Shayne Carlson is riding his late father's bike on his journey.

His father, Chief Carlson, was killed in Afghanistan in 2003 and the trip is in his memory.

He is also trying to raising money for Team RWB, a charity for veterans.

His journey brought his to Coos Bay earlier this week.

"As someone who's been directly affected by war, I understand what these soldiers and their families go through,” said Carlson in Coos Bay. “I am doing it mainly as a means to support a good charity that does great things for veterans who really do need it."

So far Carlson has raised a hundred dollars.
