Miss Coos County crowned over the weekend

COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- There's a new Miss Coos County!

In this weekend's pageant, the girls answered questions from the judges, modeled active wear, swimwear, and evening gowns and performed a talent.

Quinlyn Deming won the title, Aly Welch won outstanding teen and Karli Kennedy won the princess title.

Over $15,000 in scholarships were awarded.

KCBY News caught up with the outgoing Miss Coos County, Shalese Curle, backstage before the show. "I think each girl brings something new to the program and they live out their own dream in a different way through being Miss Coos County, and so I could only hope that she enjoys every minute of it and soaks it all up because as I would know, it goes by way too fast."

Curle says she wouldn't be attending Northwest University without the scholarships she received from the program.
