Motorcycle and car collide on Hwy 101 south of Coos Bay

COOS BAY, Ore. - A motorcycle collided with a car, seriously injuring the motorcyclist on Highway 101 south of Coos Bay Tuesday.

The motorcycle rider was taken by air ambulance to Portland, Oregon State Police told KCBY News in Coos Bay. His identity and condition are not yet known.

The driver of the car declined medical treatment and was talking to troopers about what happened.

Initial information given to District Attorney Paul Frasier indicate the driver was trying to cross the southbound lanes of Hwy 101 to get into the northbound lanes when the southbound motorcycle hit the car.

One lane of Hwy 101 was open in both directions after the crash.

No word yet on whether any citations or charges will be made related to the crash.
