NORTH BEND, Ore. -- Get out your running shoes. The North Bend School District's 3K Color Run is almost here.

Runners are blasted with colored powder while they run the course around the North Bend middle and high school campuses.

Organizers say the money raised through the run will go to North Bay Elementary, Hillcrest and North Bend Middle School.

"It helps raise funds obviously for the school district,” says Color Run committee member Sara Wicks. “These are our youth of the community. Someday they're going to be the adults of our community, so why not support them now through fun events, through raising money to get iPads in the classrooms, anything that's educational."

There's a $25 registration fee for the Color Run this Saturday.

Registration is at North Bend High School at noon and the run starts at 1 p.m.

Organizers say for safety reasons children under five or in strollers are not allowed to participate. Animals are also not allowed on the course.
