One dead in Hwy 42 crash

WINSTON, Ore. -- A 66-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon, and a Winston woman was injured after a crash on Highway 42 near Winston.

Authorities on the scene say the man was driving a Geo Tracker eastbound at about 4:15 pm near Quarter Horse Lane, when for an unknown reason it crossed the center line and collided with a pickup headed westbound.

That pickup was being driven by Teresa Anderson, 46, of Winston. Anderson sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy with non-life threatening injuries.

The man driving the Geo Tracker, Denver David, 66, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Oregon State Police say both drivers were using safety restraints, and the investigation is ongoing.

Highway 42 was completely closed for about an hour.

This is a developing story, and will be updated.
