Oregon DOJ won't investigate Kitzhaber
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Oregon’s Department of Justice will not investigate former Gov. John Kitzhaber at all.
According to the DOJ, too much time has passed while the federal government conducts its investigation.
Kitzhaber resigned in February 2015 over accusations of influence-peddling to enrich his fiancée Cylvia Hayes.
Hayes had accepted more than $200,000 from outside groups.
Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum wrote in a letter to U.S. Attorney Bill Williams that the state’s ability to pursue a case would be shut down because of the statute of limitations.
