Police: Medical examiner working to ID body found near Gold Beach

GOLD BEACH, Ore. - The body of a woman was recovered on the southern Oregon Coast on Friday, not far from where a woman disappeared Thursday night.

Oregon State Police said the body has not yet been positively identified. The medical examiner is working to identify the deceased.

The body was recovered near Gold Beach.

State police said 57-year-old Karen Marie Dunlap disappeared from the ocean shore at the South Jetty of the Rogue River around 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

"It is believed she was swept out to sea by a large wave," state police said in a report.

A high surf advisory is in effect through 11 p.m. Friday night.
