LAKESIDE, Ore. -- Coos County Sheriff's Office is reporting the safe return of a missing 9-year-old boy.

Around 11:35 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a residence on North Lake Road in Lakeside after the boy was reported missing.

Deputies learned the boy had fled following a domestic dispute between his mother and father, 35-year-old Sandro Cardenas.

Around midnight, the sheriff’s office activated its search and rescue K9s to assist in the search.

The child was found safe away from home earlier in the evening by his father, Sandro Cardenas, who took him home and put him to bed without telling anyone while county search and rescue and volunteers continued to search, police said.

While the child was later found safe at 1:55 a.m. by the father, and the search effort called off, police say they learned Cardenas had pulled the boy's mother out of a vehicle by her hair.

Sandro was subsequently arrested for domestic harassment and transported to the Coos County Jail.

He was released on citation to appear in lieu of custody at the jail.
